10 Things You Should Know about New Inspector General of Police
President Goodluck Jonathan has sacked Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba.
Abba’s sack takes immediate effect and he will be replaced by Deputy Inspector General, Solomon Arase.
Here are 10 things you should know about Nigeria’s new IG of Police:
1. He holds a Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Law.
2. He also has Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Political Science and Strategic Studies.
3. He joined the Nigerian Police Force in 1981.
4. His mother was devastated when he became a police officer.
5. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Defence College.
6. He was the Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State from 2011- 2014.
7. He was promoted from Assistant Inspector-General of Police to Deputy Inspector General of Police in 2014.
8. Before his appointment as IG, he was the Head of the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department.
9. He was originally pegged to replace former IG, Mohammed Abubakar in July 2014 but Suleiman Abba was chosen instead.
10. He was appointed Inspector General of Police on Tuesday, April 21, 2015.
