Boko Haram Storm Another Borno Town, Kill Scores Of Civilians And Soldiers

Scores of residents of New Marte, Borno state, were killed by suspected Boko Haram insurgents on April 6, Monday.

A military source disclosed to Sahara Reporters that also many soldiers were murdered when the militants stormed the town in cars and sports utility vehicles.

The fighters attacked a military based and civilian targets.

The source narrated:

“They attacked as a heavy group, shooting at both civilians and soldiers. Then one of their Golf cars laden with explosives sped and hit one of our APC [anti-personnel carrier] tanks. The collision caused a big explosion that killed many people and seriously injured many more.

“Our soldiers killed a number of them. They were so many of them, ‎so there was shooting from all angles.
Then the assaulters’ car rammed into the carrier, which led to the explosions.

“The multiple explosions led to the deaths of dozens of both civilians and soldiers nearby.”

The official information on the issue is yet to be provided.
The Nigerian military, however, yesterday carried out a successful operation in Borno state, expelling terrorists from Alagamo forest. The forest used to be the insurgents’ hideout as it was not easily accessible. This is one of a series successful operations launched by the army in the fight against Boko Haram in the country.
