Governor Abiola Ajimobi has broken the second term jinx in Oyo state by becoming the first governor to be elected twice.
Ajimobi, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), defeated Alao-Akala and Rashidi Ladoja, two former governors in the state to clinch the governorship position, Vanguard reports.
Although the INEC is yet to officially declare him the winner, Ajimobi had won 20 out of the 33 local governments in the state at the time of filing this report.
However, the Accord party is said to have refused to sign the result sheets.
According to the secretary of the party, Nureni Adisa, the mandate of his party had been stolen.
During the presentation of the election results by Dr. Dickson Ajayi, the state chief collation officer at the INEC office in Ibadan, it was disclosed that there had been mayhem at Iwere-Ile in Iwajowa local government in Oyo state as hoodlums attacked the collation officer and destroyed election materials.
